8 Skincare Products You Should Be Using

favorite skincare products

I get so many questions on my skin, more so than anything else lately, so I wanted to share some of my current favorite products. Specifically these 8 that I’ve been using daily- each one having a specific use and purpose. I wish I could say there is one specific item that makes your skin dewy and smooth but it’s truly all about the combination. From oils to moisturizers, creams to masks, these are my favorites that I’ve seen help give me that ‘glow’ we all know and love.

1. Glycolic face wash

I’ve talked about glycolic acid in face washes in my post on how to correctly remove your makeup but in case you missed it: Glycol is the smallest molecule in the AHA family, which means it can penetrate into your skin much easier, and has been noted as an anti-aging ingredient. It’s especially great for oily to combination skin types.

2. Eye cream

There are many different types of eye creams for different solutions. I have been using Neocutis Lumière Bio-restorative Eye Cream. This one helps with tired looking eyes and dark circles. It’s also been said to help with fine lines and wrinkles. I especially love this company because they’re very open about their no animal testing policy.

3. Magnetight age-defier mask

This is a new one for me but beyond amazing. Dr. Brandt is a genius. It’s iron-infused and you remove it with a magnet! The magnetic currents are said to “help with signs of aging and it draws out any impurities or daily residue trapped under the skin while electromagnetic interactions create a “force-field effect” that lends skin a tighter feeling over time.” It’s great for any skin type and when you remove the mask with your magnet, you’re left with moisturized skin in which you can literally feel the difference.

4. Oil

I know how this sounds for people who have oily skin {like myself}, the last thing you want is to be adding more oil to your face but oils are a product every one should be using, no matter the skin type. When you wash your face, you’re stripping the natural oils which actually causes your skin to produce more and overcompensate which can be a really vicious cycle. Oils help balance your natural oil production and minimize the appearance of pores. I’ve been using a Korean brand from Peach & Lily called Ideal Oil and I’ll either apply it before I apply my moisturizer or mix them together.

5. Vitamin C drops

I’ve also talked about the importance of Vitamin C, many times actually in previous beauty posts. Vitamin C will always be at the top of my list for best skincare products. Read more on the importance of Vitamin C here.

6. Sunscreen face cream

Sunscreen helps prevent cancer, greatly reduces signs of aging {probably the number 1 way to prevent it actually}, reduces blotchiness and discoloration, prevents sun spots, and acts as a shield against the every day harsh rays. I use one by Goop, partially because  I know how reputable the brand is and all the natural ingredients, partly because I have an obsession with Gwenyth Paltrow.

7. Retinol serum or cream

Retinol stimulates collagen and helps create an even skin tone. 2% is the highest amount you can get for an over-the-counter product. Remember: Always apply retinol at night time, not the day.

8. Moisturizer

I use Dr. Brandt’s recovery sleeping mask as my night time moisturizer. It smells amazing and is great for every skin type. It helps reduce dryness, redness, and irritation.
