The time, Mel, my maid of honor, gave the best damn speech I could’ve ever imagined.

After months of preparation and planning, our big finally day came and now we get to share them with you and cherish these memories forever. There was this feeling I got during our big day that I’ve never felt before, and, to be honest, I didn’t expect to feel such a way. As a bride, you spend so much time planning and putting together every last detail that when the big day finally comes, you don’t think you’ll feel this overwhelming feeling of peace and love but, instead, just more excitement and craziness. At least that’s what I thought. I remember waking up the morning of and not thinking too much but just really excited for our big day. As we started to get ready in my cabin and the time ticked closer and closer to my big walk down the isle this feeling started creeping up on me. It wasn’t a feeling that I’ve heard most brides get moments before, that overwhelmed, scatterbrained,┬áhypersensitive {okay, maybe a bit hypersensitive} feeling; it was more so a feeling a pure bliss. Almost like time had stood still for a few seconds and I took a big deep breath in and captured every last moment like a mental snapshot that I’ll never forget. The feeling, the smell, the music before we left my cabin, the looks on each one of my bridesmaids and photographers’ faces, the exact moment my dad saw me as I walked out in my dress. These and other small moments are frozen in time for me, forever, not because I tried to remember, but because I was so calm at that very moment and focused on the scenario happening right in front of me and nothing else.

We knew we wanted an intimate wedding right from the start. A wedding with our immediate family and closest friends. Having the most important people in our lives all collectively in one place, and all of whom are there to celebrate our love, was the most magical sentiment of it all.

Kevin and I have always been on the same page in regards to the planning. We both wanted outdoor and rustic, yet classic, and intimate. And the countryside in Alberta just felt like the perfect place for our dreams to become a reality. I chose a lot of whites {I’ve always loved white} surrounded by greenery to keep it that classic feel in the midst of our rustic venue.

The ceremony was the epitome of romantic and sweet. A creek flowed just behind the trees and you could hear the quiet murmur of the water. Our 32 guests sat as we read our personal vows to one another and said our forever’s.

After our guests headed into the main room for cocktail hour, Kevin and I snuck off to do our photos. He was insistent on not having a first look but rather seeing me for the first time as I walked down the isle; and I agreed. As we sat down for dinner we were plated a beautiful 3-course meal; shortly after our first dance, the party began as we danced the night away.

Our weekend-long celebration was everything we ever could have hoped for and more.
